Tourism NSW promotes pet-friendly holidays
Tourism NSW has launched a campaign to promote pet-friendly holiday destinations in NSW. The Executive Director and General Manager of Tourism NSW, Lyndel Gray, said there were more than two million cats and dogs in NSW and more than six million in Australia. “Many potential holiday makers are forced to decide against taking a break, because of the worry or additional expense of boarding a pet - resulting in missed tourism opportunities,” Ms Gray said.

Yamba wins best town award
|
 |

Yamba on the NSW North Coast has been named Best Town in Australia by the Australian Traveller magazine and 29 NSW towns were included in the top 100, more than any other Australian state.
Yamba beat prestigious Australian holiday destinations such as WA’s Margaret River and Broome, Victoria’s Apollo Bay and Beechworth and Queensland’s Port Douglas for the title of Best Town in Australia in the Australian Traveller survey. Panellists found Yamba had an idyllic, winning combination of being underdeveloped, underrated and unpretentious. The magazine points out that the Yamba area boasts great surf, a fantastic community and is a safe and peaceful getaway. The results were decided by a panel of tourism and travel experts commissioned by the magazine.
NSW’s best towns were: Yamba (1), Byron Bay (7), South West Rocks (11), Burnt Pine (17), Bowral (22), Kangaroo Valley (24), Broken Hill (25), Nelson Bay (26), Bellingen (27), Leura (28), Mudgee (30), Jindabyne (32), Tilba Tilba (40), Seal Rocks (42), Pokolbin (43), Silverton (47), Huskisson (48), Lightning Ridge (53), Merimbula (54), Tamworth (57), Bermagui (60), Mollymook (67), Dorrigo (75), Berry (78), Sofala (83), Tumut (84), Wisemans Ferry (89), Wollombi (94) and Evans Head (95).
The Australian Traveller’s 100 Best Towns in Australia list will appear in the magazine’s March 25 edition and is also available at www.australiantraveller.com.
